We infected 28 students from vocational high schools with science in our 2-day workshop program we prepared with the support of Borçelik and BUİKAD.

In the program, which was held on February 9-10, 2020, young people participated in different workshops carried out by specialist trainers and engineers in the fields of Science, Technology and 21st Century Competences.

During the 2-day workshop, the viruses participated in the workshops “Design-Oriented Thinking”, “Asking Questions”, “Material Science”, “Dance in Numbers”, “Stepping Out of Line” and “Biomimicry”.

In the Question-Asking workshop, the viruses discovered the importance of asking questions.

In the Design-Oriented Thinking workshop, they offered their own solutions to the questions they had asked in groups and presented their projects. In this workshop, the youngsters were introduced to solution-oriented thinking and question-asking skills.

With the Material Science workshop, young people discovered together the engineering wonders of nature by understanding how the rules and mechanisms of the world worked.

Through the “Dance in Numbers” workshop, they learned how mathematics influenced science and technology. In this context, they acquired various kinds of information about what mathematical thinking was, problem solving methods, differences between problem and exercise, artificial intelligence, big data and game theory.

With the workshop “Stepping Out of Line”, the viruses discussed together about where we should take part in the new world order and how we should behave.

In the “Biomimicry” workshop inspired by nature, they analyzed the flexibility of the spider web, the soundness of the seashell and the infrastructure of Leonardo da Vinci’s works from the biomimicry perspective.

At the end of our workshops, Science Viruses were awarded with a certificate with an unpretentious ceremony.
